##### Version 1.0.9 > # How Licensing Works ## ORB Driver Hardware Device Just like with **Milestone XProtect** we license each video channel assigned with an **ORB Driver**. You can have a combination of video channels from the below drive types. - **ORBNET Single Driver** (1 Channel each device) - **ORBNET ONVIF Driver** (1 Channel each device) - **ORBNET Multi Driver** (2-1000 Channels each device) ![[z_img/4b83fca6fa7b1ec45b203e3f14923cdd_MD5.jpeg|200]] > [!note] > For version **1.0.8** and below there was also a **XProtect Recording Server** license. See [[ORB-Up Subscription]] for full details of ORB-Up. ## Getting Pricing or Purchase a license ## License Trial / Demo Our installer for the **ORB Driver** includes a 30-day trial period, if this is the first time you have installed the **ORB Driver**. The trial period will start from when the installation is completed. If you have installed an older version of the **ORB Driver** it is likely the trial period would have run already, you will need to export and make a request to trial the newer version. Open the **XProtect Management Client** with the **ORB Driver Plugin** installed. - **[Orb Driver for XProtect Plugins Setup v#.#.##.msi]** From the left hand navigation pane find **[ORBNET Plugins]** and **[Orb Driver License Settings]** ![[z_img/922cb117874814f61f1f842db2ab2c2c_MD5.jpeg|300]] See `Days Valid` and the `Time left` in the license manager window. Further details in [License Request] # Orb Driver License Manager Navigate to [ORBNET Plugins] > [Orb Driver License Settings] Any new devices will be **auto-licensed** once you visit this page. ![[z_img/e1e610bfac5d742a10b9ef8fd8116bba_MD5.jpeg]] The **Orb Driver License Manager** has three sections. - Base License Information - Top right you see the **license valid period**. For a trial the time will count-down for a expired license it will show License needs activation. You will receive a message as below indicating that the license will not be valid for the version you are installing. After installation complete a license request to validate the product again.
