## Overview The **Active Streams** page provides a real-time overview of all currently active inbound streams (publishing points) managed by the **Streaming Engine**. It is primarily used to: - Monitor live stream status - Inspect stream properties - Preview video Each active stream represents a live connection between a video source (for example, a camera or device) and the Streaming Engine. ![[Active Streams -Overview .png|800]] <div style="page-break-after: always;"></div> ## Functionality ### Global Actions At the top of the page, operators can access several global controls: - **Add Active Stream** Opens a dialog to create a new active stream. ![[Active Streams -Add Active Stream .png|500]] - **Hide virtual active streams** Filters out virtual or internally generated streams from the list. - **Hide video player** Hides the inline video preview column to improve performance or reduce visual clutter. --- ### Search and Filtering A full-width search field allows filtering active streams by: - **Stream title** - **Publishing path** Filtering is applied immediately as text is entered. If no active streams match the filter, a message is displayed: - **“No active streams found.”** --- ### Active Streams Table The main table lists all active streams with real-time metadata and controls. #### Columns - **Selection** Checkbox for selecting streams for bulk operations. - **Name / Path** Displays the stream title if defined; otherwise, the publishing path. Sorting can be toggled ascending/descending. - **XProtect Camera** Displays the associated camera name (if applicable). - **Latency** Shows the current streaming latency for the publishing point. - **Nb Clients** Displays the number of connected clients consuming the stream. - **Mode** Shows the active streaming mode (for example, **WebTransport**, **HLS**). - **Created** Timestamp indicating when the stream was created. - **Inbound URL** Displays the sanitized inbound connection URL used by the stream. - **Actions** - **Stream Info** – opens detailed publishing point information - **Copy Path** – copies the publishing path to the clipboard - **Video Player (optional)** Displays an inline live preview using the **Mini Live Player**. --- #### Bulk Selection - **{ALL}** button selects or deselects all visible streams. - Selected rows are highlighted. - Bulk actions operate only on selected streams. --- #### Mini Live Player Each active stream can display a compact live preview directly inside the table. ![[z_img/Active Streams - Mini Live Player.png|300]] --- #### Preview States **Snapshot Preview** - Displays a snapshot thumbnail - Shows a centered play button overlay - Clicking the thumbnail starts live preview **Live Preview** - Displays muted live video - Includes a loading indicator while the stream initializes - Shows minimal overlay controls --- #### Mini Player Controls - **Start Live Preview** Click the snapshot thumbnail. - **Stop Live Preview** Click the stop button (**⏹️**) displayed over the video. - **Open Full Player** Click the fullscreen icon (**⛶**) to open the stream in the **Focused Popup Player**. > [!note] > The **Mini Live Player** is designed for quick verification, not long-term viewing. ## Workflow A typical workflow using the **Active Streams** page: 1. Open the **Active Streams** page. 2. Use the search bar to locate a specific stream. 3. Verify stream health: - Check **Latency** - Check **Client count** 4. Start a **Mini Live Player** preview to confirm video. 5. Open the stream in a popup for detailed monitoring (optional). 6. Select one or more streams. ## Setup and Verification – Example ### Example: Verify an Active Stream and Share It 1. **Locate the Stream** - Use the filter box to search by name or path. 2. **Verify Stream Status** - Confirm latency is updating. - Confirm at least one client connection (if expected). 3. **Preview Video** - Click the snapshot thumbnail. - Wait for the live preview to start. 4. **Open Full Player** - Click the fullscreen icon. - Verify the stream opens in the **Focused Popup Player**. ## Performance Considerations - Inline video previews consume additional resources. - Hiding the video player column can significantly improve performance on large systems. - **Mini Live Player** previews are intended for short validation, not continuous monitoring. <div class="page-break" style="page-break-before: always;"></div>
