## Overview
The Performance & Metrics page provides real-time and historical visibility into the health and performance of the Streaming Engine.
It allows operators and administrators to monitor system resource usage as well as per-stream delivery performance, helping with troubleshooting, capacity planning, and validation of live operations.
It is available at the route: **/performance**.

> [!note]
> Long time ranges and many selected streams may increase browser load.
> Disabling unused charts improves responsiveness.
> Live updates are optimized but should be disabled when performing long historical analysis.

## Functionality
The page is divided into two main sections:
- System Metrics – overall Streaming Engine health
- Channel Metrics – per-stream performance indicators
### 1. System Metrics
The System Metrics chart visualizes overall resource usage of the Streaming Engine host.
**Displayed Metrics**:
- CPU Usage (%)
- RAM Usage (%)
Both metrics are plotted on the same time axis, using dual Y-axes for clarity.
![[Performance - System Metrics.png|700]]
Operators can control how system metrics are displayed:
- Range
- Last 15 minutes
- Last 1 hour
- Last 6 hours
- Last 24 hours
- Live
- When enabled, the chart updates automatically at regular intervals
- When disabled, the chart shows a static historical snapshot
- Dark chart
- Toggles between dark and light chart themes
- Useful when switching between UI themes or presentation contexts
**Behavior**:
- Data is automatically downsampling for longer time ranges
- When Live mode is enabled, new data points are appended to the chart
- Charts resize responsively with the browser window
---
### 2. Channel Metrics
The Channel Metrics section provides detailed performance insight for individual streams (channels).
Metrics are displayed per selected stream and plotted as separate traces for easy comparison.

#### a) Available Metrics
Operators can independently enable or disable the following charts:
Framerate (FPS) - Indicates delivered frames per second for each stream.
Bitrate (Mbps) - Shows the effective streaming bitrate.
Latency (ms) - Displays end-to-end delivery latency over time.
Each metric is plotted on its own chart with a shared time axis.
---
#### b) Channel Selection
On the right-hand side, a Streams panel lists all available channels.
Features include:
- Search/filter by channel ID
- Select individual streams
- Select All / Deselect All buttons
- Live updating when new streams appear
Only selected streams are included in the charts.
---
#### c) Chart Controls
- Range
- Same time ranges as System Metrics (15 min → 24 h)
- Reload
- Manually refreshes all selected charts
- Export CSV
- Exports metric data for selected streams and time range
- CSV includes:
- UTC timestamp
- Channel ID
- FPS
- Bitrate
- Latency
- Dark chart
- Toggles dark/light rendering for all charts
- Legend interaction
- Clicking legend items hides or shows individual stream traces
## Workflow
A typical workflow when using Performance & Metrics:
1. Open the Performance & Metrics page
2. Review System Metrics to confirm CPU and RAM stability
3. Switch to Channel Metrics
4. Select one or more active streams
5. Enable the desired metric charts (FPS, Bitrate, Latency)
6. Adjust the time range to investigate an issue
7. Use Reload to refresh data if needed
8. Export CSV data for offline analysis or reporting
## Setup and Verification – Example
### Example: Investigate Latency Issues on Active Streams
1. **Open Performance & Metrics**
- Navigate to the **Performance & Metrics** page.
2. **Check System Health**
- Set range to **Last 1 hour**.
- Confirm **CPU** and **RAM** are within expected limits.
3. **Focus on Channel Metrics**
- Enable the **Latency** chart.
- Select the affected streams from the list.
4. **Adjust Time Range**
- Set range to **Last 15 minutes**.
- Click **Reload**.
5. **Analyze Results**
- Identify latency spikes.
- Compare affected streams against others.
6. **Export Data**
- Click **Export CSV**.
- Share data with engineering or support teams.
